Abstract

Curly green lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var. New Grand Rapids) is a type of leafy vegetable with high economic value and increasing market demand. An important aspect of lettuce cultivation is the use of fertilizers that can increase plant productivity and are environmentally friendly. This study aims to evaluate the effect of cow manure and liquid organic fertilizer (POC) made from cow urine on the growth and yield of curly green lettuce. It was conducted in Banjar Munduk Andong, Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency, from January to March 2025. Using a factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK). Obtained 12 treatment combinations and 36 experimental plots with three replications. The first factor was the dose of cow manure (0, 2, and 4 tons ha⁻¹) and the second factor was the concentration of cow urine POC (0, 25, 50, and 75 cc liter⁻¹). It showed no significant interaction between the two treatments on all observed parameters. The dose of cow manure alone did not have a significant effect. The application of cow urine POC significantly affected plant height and leaf number. A cow urine POC concentration of 75 cc liters⁻¹ was the best treatment, resulting in an average plant height of 16.96 cm, a leaf count of 12.22, and an economic fresh weight of 135.53 grams per plant compared to the control. Cow urine POC at a concentration of 75 cc liters⁻¹ is a superior and more sustainable organic fertilizer alternative compared to the control.
