Entrepreneurial competence is a key factor in determining business performance in the agribusiness sector, particularly in layer chicken farming. This study aims to analyze the role of internal and external environments in shaping entrepreneurial competence and their effects on the business performance of layer chicken farms in Penebel District, Tabanan Regency. The study was conducted in Penebel District and involved 51 layer chicken farm owners selected using a saturated sampling technique with a minimum ownership criterion of 3,000 laying hens. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis with class intervals and Generalized Structured Component Analysis (GSCA). The results indicate that the internal environment has a significant effect on entrepreneurial competence, while the external environment does not have a significant effect on entrepreneurial competence. Entrepreneurial competence and the external environment have a positive and significant effect on business performance, whereas the internal environment shows a significant negative effect on business performance. These findings emphasize that improvements in the business performance of layer chicken farms are largely determined by the strengthening of entrepreneurial competence, supported by effective internal management and the farmers ability to directly respond to and capitalize on external environmental dynamics.
