About the Journal

Jurnal Sutasoma is a journal published by Universitas Tabanan (UNTAB) Bali, serving as a platform for publishing the results of research activities conducted by researchers in Indonesia. Jurnal Sutasoma was first published in December 2022.

The journal publishes research findings in the fields of science, technology, and social-humanities, with a particular focus on national development. The aim of this journal is to provide a space for publishing critical thinking, original research results, and conceptual ideas from academics, researchers, and practitioners that have not been published in other media.

Jurnal Sutasoma is an electronic journal managed professionally using the Open Journal System (OJS).

Focus and Scope

Submissions to Jurnal Sutasoma should focus on the field of national development. National Development is defined as efforts to create progress and prosperity for the Indonesian people across various sectors.

The focus and scope of this journal include:

Development Economics

Focuses on the understanding and analysis of the economic development process of a region or country as it grows and develops, aiming to improve community welfare through various economic strategies and policies.
Scope: Macroeconomics, microeconomics, economic growth theory, economic policy analysis, social development, human resource economics, international trade, public finance, sustainable development, regional economics, and global issues affecting economic development.

Entrepreneurship

Focuses on aspects related to creating, developing, and sustaining a business to achieve financial success and create economic value.
Scope: Social entrepreneurship, digital entrepreneurship, female entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship, ecopreneurship, techopreneurship.

Law

Focuses on the renewal of national law, policies, and programs designed for the government so that the law can provide justice, certainty, and benefits on a national or regional scale.
Scope: Constitutional Law; Administrative Law; Criminal Law; Civil Law; International Law; Procedural Law; Adat (Customary) Law; Business Law; Tourism Law; Environmental Law; Law and Society; Information Technology and Electronic Transaction Law; Human Rights Law.

Information Systems

Focuses on the benefits of information systems for society to create progress and welfare.
Scope: Web-based and Mobile Information Systems, Multimedia, Augmented Reality, Expert Systems, and Decision Support Systems.

Agribusiness

Focuses on industrial or business activities within the agricultural sector.
Scope: Agricultural economics, agricultural product marketing, and agro-tourism.

Agrotechnology

Focuses on the utilization of technology in the agricultural sector.
Scope: Agricultural science, plant pests and diseases, soil science, plant breeding, agronomy, post-harvest technology, seed technology, and cultivation science.

Peer Review Process

Articles submitted to Jurnal Sutasoma will undergo two review processes: pre-review and peer review.

1. Pre-Review Process (Desk Review)

The pre-review is conducted by the managing director and includes:

  1. Focus and Scope: The article must align with the scope of Jurnal Sutasoma.
  2. Plagiarism Check: Conducted using Google Scholar and iThenticate, with a maximum similarity score of 20%. Articles exceeding 20% will be returned for revision.
  3. References: A minimum of 10 references, with 80% primary sources and 20% secondary sources. APA style and reference management software (e.g., Mendeley) are mandatory.
  4. Template: The article must adhere to the Jurnal Sutasoma template.

If an article fails to meet these four components, it will be returned to the author for revision (7-day revision period).

2. Peer Review Process

Once the pre-review components are met, the article will be forwarded to be reviewed by three reviewers through the Editor. The reviewers can provide the following recommendations:

  1. Accept Submission: The article is accepted without revision.
  2. Revision Required: The article requires minor revisions (it is sent to the author; after revision, it can be accepted).
  3. Resubmit for Review: The article requires major revisions (after revision by the author, it is sent back to the Reviewer for re-review; maximum of three review rounds).
  4. Resubmit Elsewhere: The article is deemed unsuitable and recommended for submission to another journal.
  5. Decline Submission: The article is rejected.

Article Processing Time

  • Pre-review process: 3-7 days.
  • Author revision (pre-review stage): 1 week. (Authors who fail to revise within this time without notification will have their submission rejected).
  • Peer review process: Approximately 2 weeks per round. The number of rounds depends on the reviewer's recommendations.

Letter of Acceptance (LOA)

The LOA for Jurnal Sutasoma will be sent to the author's email automatically via OJS once the article has been accepted for publication and has entered the production stage.

Article Rejection and Withdrawal Policy

Rejection/Withdrawal Without Penalty

  1. The article does not match the journal's focus and scope.
  2. The author fails to revise the article (during pre-review or review stage) within the allotted time without any reason.
  3. The article fails the pre-review stage three times.
  4. The article is rejected based on reviewer recommendations regarding its substance/content.

Rejection/Withdrawal With Penalty (IDR 5,000,000)

  1. The author withdraws the article for any reason after it has been processed (entered the pre-review stage).
  2. Duplicate publication is discovered (i.e., the author submitted the article to multiple journals simultaneously, or the article has already been published elsewhere).

This type of withdrawal is considered a waste of the editorial team's time. The withdrawal will be finalized after the author pays the penalty. Failure to pay will result in the author being blacklisted from Jurnal Sutasoma.

All articles published in Jurnal Sutasoma are protected by copyright. Authors retain copyright to their work and grant the journal permission to publish the article under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA).

By submitting a manuscript, authors agree to the following terms:

  1. The article may be used, shared, and copied with proper attribution to the original author.
  2. The article may not be used for commercial purposes without written permission from the author.
  3. Derivative works may be created and redistributed provided they are also licensed under CC BY-NC-SA.
  4. The author warrants that the manuscript is their original work and does not infringe upon any third-part copyrights.
  5. The author's personal data will be kept confidential.

Names and email addresses entered on the Jurnal Sutasoma site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Peer Review Policy

Every manuscript is reviewed by the Editor, and if it meets the required standard, it is sent for blind review to two reviewers selected by the journal team based on their expertise (single-blind peer-review). The results may be: accepted without corrections, accepted with minor corrections, accepted with major corrections, or rejected. The corresponding author is given the opportunity to correct the article based on the reviewer's suggestions.

Plagiarism Policy

Authors of articles in Jurnal Sutasoma must ensure their written work is free from plagiarism. If using others' work, it must be cited appropriately. Authors are also not permitted to engage in duplicate publication (submitting one article to multiple publishers simultaneously).

Publication Ethics

Jurnal Sutasoma of Universitas Tabanan is committed to the highest standards of publication ethics, adopting guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Core Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality & Integrity: Submit original work, report data accurately, avoid plagiarism or redundant publication, and cite sources correctly.
  • Authorship: Ensure all significant contributors are listed as authors and have approved the final manuscript.
  • Disclosure & Correction: Disclose potential conflicts of interest and funding sources. Promptly notify the editor of significant errors found in the published work.

Core Responsibilities of Editors

  • Editorial Decisions: Make fair and objective publication decisions based on the manuscript's quality, significance, originality, and relevance, without bias.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of manuscript information and reviewer identities.
  • Conflict & Ethics Management: Handle conflicts of interest and investigate allegations of ethical misconduct according to COPE guidelines.

Core Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Objectivity & Confidentiality: Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews. Maintain the confidentiality of the reviewed manuscript.
  • Conflict of Interest: Decline to review if a conflict of interest exists.

Handling Misconduct

Jurnal Sutasoma will investigate all allegations of ethical misconduct (such as plagiarism, data manipulation, etc.) in accordance with COPE workflows and take necessary actions, including correction or retraction of the article.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

Authors whose articles are published in Jurnal Sutasoma will be charged a publication fee of IDR 300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand Indonesian Rupiah).

Information regarding payment procedures will be provided by the editorial team after the manuscript is accepted for publication.
